The College of Liberal Arts currently employs nine intelligent, motivated, friendly, and funny Peer Advisors. These Peer Advisors will greet you in the College of Liberal Arts Advising Center, help you during New Student Orientation and/or Group Advising, provide suggestions and advice regarding course selection, and more. Feel free to visit the Advising Center to talk to the Peer Advisors to obtain information and feedback from someone who is trained in Liberal Arts curriculum but also possesses the knowledge that only a Temple student does!

Name: Kacey Beltz
Major(s)/Minor(s): Strategic Communications (Rhetoric and Public Advocacy) and Sociology

Graduating in: May 2015
Bio: Bio: Kacey grew up in York, PA, but is a city girl at heart and considers Philly her home.  Kacey loves Temple University, and before working as a Peer Advisor, she was an Owl Team Leader and a Summer Conference Assistant.  She is also the first president of her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta’s Temple chapter.  When Kacey is not sunbathing on Beury Beach, you can find her hanging out with her friends, exploring the city, and convincing everyone she meets that she is Ke$ha.  Kacey loves speech writing and public speaking and hopes to do advocacy work for the Alzheimer’s Association after graduation.

 Miranda Brindza

Graduating in: May 2016
Bio: Miranda grew up in York, Pennsylvania, but could not be happier to be living in a big city, especially Philadelphia. She enjoys traveling and exploring the city, watching horror movies, baking, and stargazing. In addition to being a Peer Advisor at CLA, Miranda is a Peer Educator at the Wellness Resource Center on campus and is working to start a new student organization, S.A.F.E., which aims to raise awareness of sexual violence on campus and in the community. After graduation, she plans on attending graduate school in Philadelphia for Counseling Psychology and go on to work with adolescents with anxiety disorders and trauma.

Name: Rhonda Daher
Major(s)/Minor(s): Criminal Justice

Graduating in: May 2015
Bio: Rhonda grew up in Allentown, but is happy to be spending time in the “City of Brotherly Love.” She has two sisters and comes from a Syrian background. She is a Criminal Justice major and has intentions of becoming a lawyer. In Rhonda’s free time, she also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity at Temple. Rhonda also likes to hang out with her friends and family, shop in the city, and watch superhero movies (Batman specifically). After graduating from Temple University, Rhonda hopes to continue on to law school in Philadelphia and eventually work for the District Attorney’s Office of Philadelphia.

Name: Tiffany Galloway

Bio: Tiffany grew up in Fort Washington, Maryland and is enjoying the big city life in Philadelphia. In addition to her being a Peer Advisor, she is also an Owl Ambassador at Temple and volunteers with Mighty Writers in South Philadelphia. She enjoys reading, watching the Food Network Channel, and venturing out to the city to explore. She also studied abroad in Rome, Italy through Temple’s program for the summer and deeply enjoyed her time there, blogging about the Vatican, the delicious Italian food, and the wine in Tuscany. She encourages every student to take advantage of studying abroad while in college because it was an amazing experience for her. She plans on attending graduate school to earn her MFA in Creative Writing.

Name: Rachel Ginsberg

Bio: Rachel grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, but is glad to be spending some time getting to know Philadelphia. In addition to working as a Peer Advisor, Rachel is currently working as Research Assistant on a Campus Mental Health Grant in the Wellness Resource Center. Outside of working and attending classes, Rachel enjoys exploring the city and trying new restaurants. She is currently majoring in Psychology and plans to attend Graduate School for Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Name: Alyssa Huat
Major(s)/Minor(s): Psychology / Adult & Organizational Development

Graduating in: May 2016
Bio: Alyssa was born in Roxborough, Pennsylvania and has since moved to Bucks County. She enjoys returning to Philadelphia for her college education, fully immersing herself in the city (and student) life. If she is not in the advising office, she usually is sitting inside the Student Center with food from any of the trucks or the Anderson strip, at the rockwall in Pearson, or going through some homework. In her free time, she likes to relax with Bikram yoga and a cup of tea, as well as some games on her apartment’s PS2, scrolling through Tumblr, and her golden mini-labradoodle, Bubba. She also hopes to travel to a few different places in the world before going to graduate school, as she aspires to work in organizational leadership in the future.

Name: Christopher Persaud
Major(s)/Minor(s): Sociology / LGBT Studies

Graduating in: May 2017
Bio: Christopher is loosely from Chester County, Pennsylvania, but he moved about six times across the country while growing up. In addition to being a Peer Advisor, Christopher is very involved in the University Honors Program as well as Temple’s queer community. He loves Philadelphia for its distinct neighborhoods and many places to find something to eat. Christopher is considering going on to a PhD program in Sociology and/or Demography after undergrad, but nothing is set in stone. At the very least, he plans to be a student in some capacity for the rest of his life. In his spare time, he enjoys reading dystopian literature, trawling various corners of the Internet, and trying out new things in the kitchen.

Name: Courtney Wise
Major(s)/Min(s): Management Information Systems / Psychology

Graduating in: May 2015
Bio: Courtney grew up in small town named Atglen, PA, also known as Amish Country. Because of this, she wanted a radical change and chose Temple University. She first entered Temple as a Fox student, then switched her major to Psychology for a three semesters, and then changed her major a third time to MIS where she is planning to finish her college degree. She can relate to a typical student’s frustration with finding the right major and has utilized her psychology credits to complete a minor. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching TV/Neflix, crocheting, cooking, and working out at the gym.

Name: Megan Zak
Major(s)/Minor(s): Political Science / History

Graduating in: December 2015
Bio: Megan grew up in a suburb bordering Philadelphia but has always loved everything about the city. She commutes daily to Temple by way of the train and the Broad Street Line. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, volunteering, going into the city, and much more. In addition to being a CLA Peer Advisor, Megan has participated in the 2014 Mayor’s Internship Program, has volunteered for Project HOME, and is a Wild Cherry member (you will always find her cheering proudly for Temple at the football and basketball games!). With a major in Political Science and a minor in History, she hopes to attend law school after graduating from Temple and get more involved in advocating for human rights and civil liberties.
