Inspiring Excellence! A Year in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Ph.D. Program in African American Studies at Temple University

With support from the College of Liberal Arts, the Graduate School, the Department of Anthropology, the Department of History, and the Department of Sociology the Department of African American studies is hosting A Year in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Ph.D. Program in African American Studies at Temple University speaker series.

The series of events are as follows:

  • Thursday, September 19, 2013, Weigley Room, Gladfelter Hall 914, 2 PM
    Dr. Adeniyi Coker, E. Desmond Lee Distinguished Professor, University of Missouri, St. Louis (Dr. Coker was the first person in the world to receive a PhD in African American Studies)
  • Friday, October 4, 2013, Kiva Auditorium, Ritter Hall, 2 PM
    Dr. Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, President of Institute for Pan African Strategies, Former Foreign Minister for Senegal, and Africa’s Leading Pan African Strategist and Technician, “The United States of Africa: The Reality and the Prospects” Dr. Gadio will be joined by Samia Nkrumah, Landing Savane, and Moussa Seck, leading Pan Africanists of West Africa
