The CLA Alumni Association (CLAAA) held its annual “Night at the Phillies” event on Friday June 24th. CLAAA hosted a sold-out crowd of alumni eager to cheer on the Phillies, who defeated the Oakland Athletics, 1-0. Guests enjoyed drink specials and appetizers at McFadden’s before the game.

President Obama appoints CLA alumna to disabilities committee

President Barack Obama recently announced pending appointments to the President’s Committee for People with Intellection Disabilities. Among the appointees was Deborah M. Spitalnik, who earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the College of Liberal Arts in 1982.

Owls return to campus for Alumni Weekend

Alumni Weekend 2011

In a triumph over soggy weather, more than 1,000 Owls converged on Temple’s Philadelphia campuses the weekend of April 15, making this year’s Alumni Weekend an enormous success.

Over a three-day period, alumni returned for tours, lectures, exhibitions, plays, concerts and parties, making the event the largest on-campus gathering of the Temple community for a non-athletic event in the university’s history.

CLA alumni tour Philadelphia’s Masonic Temple

The CLA Alumni Association recently continued its tour series of Philadelphia landmarks, hosting nearly 100 alumni at the city’s Masonic Temple. Guests were treated to a reception, guided tour, and brief lecture held by Dr. Seth Bruggeman, assistant professor of History and American Studies. Dr. Bruggeman is also the coordinator of the college’s Center for Public History, giving alumni special insight into the building’s historic nature.
