Susan Burton visits

On October 19, Ms. Susan Burton visited Professor Tripp’s Inside Out Class at Riverside Correctional Facility.

Ms. Burton is the Founder and Executive Director of A New Way of Life Reentry Project for women in California. Building on her experiences from being in and out of prison for over two decades, Ms. Burton has advocated and lobbied for the acknowledgement of women s needs and pathways to crime by not only the Criminal Justice System, but more importantly by Correctional Systems. In 2017, Ms. Burton published the acclaimed Becoming Ms. Burton. From Prison to Recovery to Leading the Fight for Incarcerated Women. Ms. Burton not only participated in class, but also provided her book Becoming Ms. Burton to Inside Students. A moving conversation was held on redemption, recovery and Reentry from a gendered perspective.
