On October 31st, The Criminal Justice Society held its annual bake sale.  Thanks to everyone who took part in this great tradition.

On October 27th, The Criminal Justice Society hosted The Special Committee for Criminal Justice Reform (Philadelphia City Council). The discussion involved gun policy and how effective gun legislation can ultimately reduce crime. The panel consisted of T. El Shabazz (DA’s Office-Special Investigations), William Rojas, William Cobb, and City Councilman Curtis Jones. Thanks to all that attended.

CJS Donation to the Philadelphia Mental Health Court

On October 20,2016 President of the Criminal Justice Society Claire Cochrane along with Faculty Advisor Tara N. Tripp presented the Honorable Shelia Woods-Skipper with a donation for the Philadelphia Mental Health Court. The gift cards will be given to Mental Health Court participants who achieve a milestone while in the program.

The Criminal Justice Society is the major organization for all Criminal Justice majors and minors. The mission of the society is to go beyond the classroom setting and provide opportunities for students to network, develop effective leadership skills, enhance professional development and promote fellowship among all Criminal Justice students. The society hosts a variety of events during the semester including but not limited to a job fair that brings together students and law enforcement agencies for great partnerships. The society also engages in community service projects that help students connect with social issues and examine career paths. The Criminal Justice Society maintains a Blackboard page.

Philadelphia District Attorney R. Seth Williams

The Criminal Justice Society welcomes Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams to speak to our faculty and students. DA Williams will discuss issues such as public safety, community collaborations and social justice. This will be an excellent opportunity for our students to further delve into issues affecting the City of Philadelphia and the broader criminal justice system.
