Committee on Instruction
In accordance with the bylaws of the College of Liberal Arts, the Committee on Instruction (COI) is responsible for the maintenance of academic standards and managing curriculum changes at the undergraduate level. It accomplishes this by overseeing the academic programs of departments and the college. It is charged with approving new and special courses, deleting courses in consultation with departments and programs, approving revisions to existing courses, reviewing and recommending to the Collegial Assembly proposals for new programs and changes in graduation requirements, as well as recommending modifications to existing courses.
COI also reviews and, when appropriate, recommends the revision of standards and policies regarding academic standing, advising the Director of Academic Advising on special individual cases that may arise regarding such standards and policies, as well as recommending changes in requirements for majors, minors, certificates, and criteria for graduation with distinction. COI monitors and reviews curricular proposals discussed by the Faculty Senate and its subcommittees and provides information and makes recommendation to College senators as appropriate.
