CONGRATULATIONS to alumna Julia D'Aleandro Meyers. Julia just started her first semester as a PhD candidate in the Italian Program at University of Pennsylvania.







CONGRATULATIONS to Alexa Zerkow who spent a month perfecting her Italian at the University for Foreigners in Siena thanks to a scholarship that she won through an undergraduate multi-media context organized by the Italian Consulate in Philadelphia and the Center for Italian Studies at University of Pennsylvania.

Maura Smith, TU German major, selected for Fulbright Teaching Assistantship

Maura Smith, a Temple German Major and a graduate of our Leipzig program, who is just finishing up a year at Temple Rome has received the coveted Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in Germany for 2014 -2015. She will be a teaching assistant in the German State of Saarland in Western Germany. Congratulations to Maura! Viele herzliche Glueckwuensche!

The CLS Program is part of a larger U.S. government effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages; its applicant pool is highly competitive. The scholarship will allow Julie to participate in the intensive Russian language study in Russia. Congratulations on Julie's impressive accomplishment! The full article can be viewed here.

Silvana Pop, TU German student, selected for Steuben Award

Temple German Student Silvana Pop is the recipient of the Steuben Society's National Council Award for German-American Studies 2008. CONGRATULATIONS to Silvana Pop! This is indeed wonderful news! Tthe Steuben Society could not have selected a better or more deserving candidate. Silvana has already proven her deep devotion to German Culture, History and Language by her intense involvement with these very issues both at Temple University and in the greater community! We are all very proud of Silvana and her many accomplishments and grateful to the Steuben Society that it has bestowed the coveted award on one of our very best representatives.


Global Temple Conference

The FGIS Department encourages students to participate in the Annual Global Temple Conference.The conference highlights Temple student, staff and faculty research, programs and creative activities from around the world. Through panel discussions, poster sessions, films, performances and exhibits, the conference emphasizes three pillars of excellence: research scholarship, artistic creativity and community service.
