GUS Alum Chris Aiosa Helps Open a Shelter for Portland Veterans

Chris Aiosa, a Geography and Urban Studies alum who graduated in 2009, recently founded Do Good Multnomah, a non-profit serving homeless veterans in Portland, Oregon. Do Good Multnomah has helped set up the first “low-barrier” homeless shelter for veterans that does not require veterans to have been honorably discharged or to have served two years, is located downtown, and allows them to bring their dogs with them into the shelter.  The shelter opened on November 11th.

A Portland Tribute article outlines how Aiosa was able to turn First Congregational United Church of Christ into a homeless shelter for veterans, barely six months after Do Good Multnomah was incorporated as a non-profit.

Chris now has his sights set on a low-income housing project.
