Dr. Michael Schwebel was recently hired as the Assistant Director of the 100 Resilient Cities’ New York team. He will be a key member of the new in-house Strategy Delivery Unit, focusing on providing technical support to cities that are creating their resilience strategies and/or defining projects to operationalize their strategies and build resilience. He will also support our organization’s efforts to experiment with technical assistance outside our network services. He is joining 100RC as Associate Director, and will be the main point of contact for the Strategy Delivery Unit’s portfolio in the North America and Latin America and Caribbean regions.
Michael brings substantial experience in community resilience and climate adaptation. He has worked as an academic, researcher, and consultant with the Urban Coast Institute (Monmouth University & New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium), United Nations, Temple University, the US Peace Corps, and STV Incorporated. As an adaptation specialist, one of his passions is working with coastal communities and cities, particularly in small island developing states and territories. 100 Resilient Cities was created by the Rockefeller Foundation upon the centennial of the Foundation in 2013.
