Linda Chavers is Assistant Professor of Instruction in Intellectual Heritage. She received the Ph.D. from Harvard University in African American Studies in 2013. Her research interests include southern literature, postmodernism, and fiction. She is a writer, teacher, and scholar of 20th-century American and African American literature with specializations in race and visual culture. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, Gawker, Dame, Le Plus de L'Obs, The Independent, Scenarios, and XO Jane. Dr. Chavers speaks publicly on Ferguson and #BlackLivesMatter. She writes memoir and essays on popular culture as well as on matters of health and patients rights.
