Pennsylvania Capital Semester Commences
This September 1st marked the kickoff of the first Pennsylvania Capital Semester in Harrisburg. Nine Temple students were welcomed by the International House, where most students will be living, and Temple Harrisburg, where they also will attend classes. Both facilities are within a few blocks of each other and the Capitol building.
The staff of the International House, including Virginia Burd, Manager, provided students and organizers with a fine reception. This included a tour of the International House amenities and an introduction to their many activities throughout the year. Vice President of Harristown Development Corporation, Brad Jones, also spoke welcoming the class of students.
Temple Harrisburg administration and staff, including Link Martin, Director, and Anne Eckert, Coordinator of Student Services, also greeted the students and organizers at Temple’s Harrisburg campus. They gave a tour of campus, an introduction to the research facilities and welcoming comments from student and staff support. Michael Cassidy, internship coordinator for the program as well as Executive Director of the Office of Democratic Caucus Chairman, was also there to offer words of wisdom and welcome.
