Outreach and Translation
Our research, under the direction of Lauren Ellman, focuses on examining genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the development of schizophrenia and related disorders, such as other psychotic disorders and depression. Research in the Ellman Lab explores environmental and biological contributions to major psychopathology. We are particularly interested in developmental trajectories of certain mental disorders, such as schizophrenia and depression, so that we can identify individuals at risk for psychopathology prior to the onset of any disorders. Ultimately, we hope our research contributes to the development of earlier and more effective interventions and treatments. We primarily study two sensitive periods of development: the fetal period and adolescence/young adulthood. Visit www.cla.temple.edu/ellmanlab for more information.
