I am here at Temple because I am passionate about teaching and learning sociology.  There are so many great ideas found within the discipline, and I am working towards a PhD because I am excited to share those ideas with others through teaching and through my own research. I especially love teaching statistics and research methods because I can show students how to think about and research the questions that are important to them.

I am currently working as a research assistant on a joint project between the Sociology and Criminal Justice departments on “Forecasting Crime in Municipal Areas." The best part of my job is that I am constantly learning new methods and techniques for analyzing data and a bonus is that I get to make maps using GIS software.

My dissertation research focuses on the sport of baseball as it has become increasingly global. The number of Latino and Asian born players in Major League Baseball has risen dramatically since 1990 and changed the game. I am researching the ways that the sports institutional structures have grown and changed and how local baseball fans tell narratives about baseball players within this global era.

My dissertation topic reflects my personal interest in sports and fitness.  I am a recreational athlete, a Spinning Instructor, and a lifelong New York Mets fan and I love the city of Philadelphia, even though the Phillies are a baseball rival.  Other personal interests that my dissertation ISN’T about include food and cooking, graphic art, and building LEGO models.
