Charlotte Castle is an M.A. student in Geography and Urban Studies. She received her B.A. in Studio Art from the College of Wooster. Before joining the department, her time in Giza offering arts workshops for at-risk youth and in the Central District of Malawi doing HIV/AIDS outreach helped to shape her interest in GUS’s theme of social justice. Today, her research interests include the Right to the City and the production of space, as well as critical food studies.
In her everyday, Charlotte remains committed to her community. Since 2011, she has volunteered for Farm 51–a small-scale urban farm in Southwest Philadelphia–as community outreach coordinator. And since 2010, she been a mentor to an inspiring young person from Southwest Philadelphia.
